Tech day with Moses Ludel
On October 13th 2003, NEWJO was invited to attend a special technical meeting with Moses Ludel hosted by Bentley Publishers in Cambridge MA. Bentley Publishers is known for their line of clear and detailed repair and service manuals. Moses Ludel is known for being widely knowledgeable in the driving, rebuilding, and modifying of Jeep vehicles as well as being active in the four wheel drive community. This tech day was guided by a new set of repair manuals written by Moses about rebuilding Jeep CJ models.
NEWJO had a good showing there along with members of Patriot Jeepers. A caravan of Jeeps headed in with Dave S in his TJ with Shane riding shotgun, Paul F in his YJ, John O in his CJ5, and Joe H in his CJ5. Stephen and Mike R Met us there.
After some coffee and donuts Moses got started and in came a CJ2a and was raised on the lift. As we all gathered around, Moses went into the components explaining weaknesses, designs, upgrades, and engineering history.Pic 1 After disecting the 2a we brought in a built CJ8 Scrambler. pic 2 Again we gathered around as Moses got into detail about the CJ8 design and the modifications. Next onto the lift was Joe's 75 CJ5. pic 3 Moses was impressed in what he was looking at with Joe's "guess my CJ" test. And after going over the 5 Moses brought in a new Rubicon. pic4Quite a departure from the CJs, but we were able to poke around and see what its all about.
This was a very educational day for all. I believe NEWJO gave a very good impression. Both Moses Ludel and Bentley Publishers are interested in keeping contact with NEWJO and we may see them at TdR 2004.
